Allied Health at Hug Pelvic Health Clinic

Our team brings together four key disciplines, working side-by-side:

  • Pelvic Health Physiotherapy – led by Louise Hug

  • Sexology – with Asha Bosman

  • Clinical Nutrition – with Jane Brierty

  • Exercise Physiology – with Alaina Tate

This structure allows the clinic to support bladder, bowel, sexual function, pain, movement, and overall wellbeing in a connected and holistic way rather than in isolation.

“Different disciplines, same goal.”

Why Collaboration Matters in Pelvic Health

Pelvic health sits at the intersection of multiple systems:

  • Musculoskeletal (pelvic floor, hips, spine)

  • Nervous system (pain, tension, trauma)

  • Hormonal and metabolic health

  • Gut and bowel function

  • Sexual and relational wellbeing

Instead of treating just one piece, the Hug Pelvic Health model allows clinicians to co-manage patients, meaning:

  • A physio may identify pelvic floor tension

  • A sexologist supports intimacy, fear, or pain-related anxiety

  • A nutritionist addresses gut or inflammatory contributors

  • An exercise physiologist rebuilds strength and confidence

This integrated approach helps patients feel understood, not compartmentalised.

Meet Your Clinicians

Asha Bosman
Sexologist

Asha is a Perth-based sexologist with a background in psychology and specialised training in sexology. She is passionate about supporting individuals and couples to improve their sexual and relationship wellbeing through open, respectful, and evidence-based care.

Asha holds a Bachelor of Psychology (B.Psych) and a Graduate Diploma in Sexology, and works with people across the lifespan to navigate challenges related to intimacy, pleasure, communication, and connection. Her approach focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space where people feel comfortable discussing topics that can often feel difficult or awkward to raise.

Through sex therapy and education, Asha supports clients experiencing a wide range of concerns including changes in sexual desire, difficulties with arousal or orgasm, pain during intimacy, relationship communication challenges, and navigating sexuality across different life stages. She works with both individuals and couples, helping them build greater understanding of their bodies, their relationships, and their sexual wellbeing.

At Hug Pelvic Health, Asha works collaboratively alongside the pelvic health physiotherapy team to provide integrated care for patients experiencing conditions where sexual health and pelvic health intersect. This may include individuals experiencing pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, difficulties with intimacy following surgery or childbirth, hormonal changes, or challenges related to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.

In addition to clinical consultations, Asha is also passionate about sexual health education and professional development. She offers educational pleasure workshops designed to empower individuals with knowledge about their bodies, as well as professional training for healthcare providers who wish to build confidence in discussing sexual health with their patients.

Asha believes that conversations about sex and intimacy should not be surrounded by shame or discomfort. Instead, they can be empowering, informative, and deeply supportive of overall wellbeing. Her work helps people feel less alone in their experiences and more confident navigating their sexual health and relationships.

Consultations are available both in person in Perth and online, allowing clients to access support in a way that feels comfortable and accessible to them.

Jane Brierty
Clinical Nutritionist

Jane Brierty is a Clinical Nutritionist with a passion for helping people improve their health through practical, evidence-based nutrition. She takes a simple, sustainable approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of health concerns rather than relying on short-term fixes.

Jane works closely with clients to develop personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies that support long-term wellbeing, metabolic health, and disease prevention. She has a particular interest in gastrointestinal health, hormonal balance, and women’s health across all stages of life, including support during the peri-menopausal and menopausal transition.

Jane believes nutrition should feel achievable and empowering. Her approach is centred around realistic changes that can be integrated into everyday life, helping clients build confidence in how they nourish their bodies while improving energy, digestion, hormonal health and overall vitality.

At Hug Pelvic Health, Jane works collaboratively alongside the pelvic health physiotherapy team to support patients experiencing conditions where nutrition can play an important role in recovery and symptom management. This may include digestive concerns, metabolic health challenges, inflammation, hormonal changes, and supporting women navigating midlife health transitions.

Jane holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Nutrition) and consultations may be eligible for private health rebates depending on your private health fund.

Alaina Tate
Exercise Physiologist

Alaina is an Exercise Physiologist, a mother, and a strong advocate for the transformative power of movement in everyday life. She believes that exercise should never feel like punishment or something that requires perfection. Instead, she sees movement as a powerful tool to help people feel stronger, more confident, and more capable in their bodies.

Alaina works with individuals living with pain, injuries, and chronic health conditions, as well as those who simply want to improve their strength, mobility, and overall wellbeing. She has completed a Clinical Masters in Exercise Physiology with her research focussing on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS. Her work focuses on helping people safely rebuild trust in their bodies and develop movement habits that are realistic, sustainable, and supportive of long-term health.

A key part of Alaina’s role is bridging the gap between rehabilitation and real life. She uses evidence-based exercise prescription to guide patients through progressive, achievable programs that support recovery, improve function, and build resilience in the body. Her goal is to help clients move beyond the fear of pain or injury and feel confident returning to the activities that matter most to them.

At Hug Pelvic Health, Alaina works collaboratively alongside the physiotherapy team to support patients at all stages of their recovery. Her programs may assist individuals managing musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain, post-injury rehabilitation, and those looking to build strength and confidence in their movement following periods of reduced activity or health challenges.

Alaina’s approach is centred on person-first care, recognising that every individual comes with unique experiences, goals, and challenges. She takes the time to understand each client’s needs and creates personalised programs that meet people where they are, allowing progress to unfold in a way that feels manageable and empowering.

Her philosophy is built on three core principles:

Person-first care — understanding the individual beyond their condition
Individualised exercise programs — tailored to each person’s goals, abilities, and lifestyle
Progress that meets you where you’re at — building strength and confidence step by step

Through supportive guidance and practical exercise strategies, Alaina aims to help people reconnect with movement in a positive way and experience the many physical and mental benefits that come with feeling strong in their body.
