A Glimpse Into The Expertise
Welcome to Hug Pelvic Physio, my name is Louise Hug. I work as a APA Titled Pelvic Health and Continence Physiotherapist. With over a decade of experience in physiotherapy I have honed my skills with a Masters in Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.
After having my baby girl in 2017, I developed a special interest in Pelvic Health. I completed several courses up-skilling in Pilates instruction (Cert IV), women’s and men’s urinary incontinence, real-time ultrasound, ano-rectal dysfunction, and perinatal care. This lead to a passion in the field of Pelvic Health and Continence. I had my second child in May 2020, reinforcing my enthusiasm clinical work in this field.
I completed three years work with a physiotherapy team at a pelvic health focussed clinic. This was a valuable time mastering management of complex pelvic health and pain presentations. I continue to be involved in advanced education and networking through my participation in professional courses and liaising with practitioners around Australia. I believe this encourages holistic management and provision of informed care.
I have always enjoyed assisting both male and female patients with their bladder, bowel and sexual function. The bony pelvis of the male and female are relatively similar with the bowl of the pelvic floor muscle siting at its base. Keeping this in mind for treatment of the male pelvic floor, I have developed a particular interest in post-operative recovery from urinary incontinence after Radical Prostatectomy. This includes pre-operative training and education as the research reveals significant benefits in recovery time and pelvic floor awareness sustained throughout the post-operative period.
I held a position at a Urological Clinic for two years. This time of urology mentorship, research, managing a wide variety of urology presentations and guiding stages of recovery, has been the most valuable and rewarding in my career to date.
